These dark and dreamy opals are Leopard Opal: a play-of-color opal in black vesicular basalt that only comes from Hidalgo, Mexico. These particular stones have a black base with small colored specks scattered throughout. The specks in these opals are mostly white with play-of-color flashes in them. These ones even have little pink flashes in them!
For these earrings, two Leopard Opals are bezel-set in fine silver and hang from the bottom of texture sterling silver hoops. Small fine silver balls, a disk, and a tube-set smokey quartz decorate the hoops.
The back of the Leopard Opals are stamped with my CL maker's mark and "STERLING" for .925 silver.
