Gemas Escondidas Faceted Fire Opal Locket
Regular price $520 USD
This is one of my signature Gemas Escondidas Lockets, which means Hidden Gems in Spanish. The little gems hidden on the inside gives this locket its name.
The lid is fabricated with sterling silver with a bezel-set faceted Mexican Fire Opal. The opal featured in this locket is nearly transparent, with an orange hue. This opal is known as a contra luz opal, or " against the light.” It has diffracted play of color, with all colors of the rainbow. This particular opal even has a little rutile hair in it!
Next to the opal is a sterling silver succulent branch, tube-set orange hessonite garnet and emerald, and little silver balls. Along the outer walls of the locket is a filigree bezel wire, with ball wire along the outside.
The locket opens by lifting on the little ball on the left side. The closure is a small silver wire that pops into a little dent on the side of the locket. Inside you'll find these tube-set stones: tourmaline, peridot, emerald, and smokey quartz. A little cast leaf keep them company.
The back of the hand-fabricated sterling silver locket has a tag with two stamps: my CL maker's mark and "STERLING" for .925 silver.
- Center stone: Faceted Mexican Fire Opal
- Other stones: emerald and hessonite garnet
- Inside stones: Dark green tourmaline, peridot, emerald, and smokey quartz
- .999 fine silver and .925 sterling silver
- Measures: 3/4" round
- Does not come with a chain. It weighs 13 grams so I recommend a chain at least 1.5mm thick
